Proverbs 8

The Gospel of John portrays Jesus in the language of Wisdom in Proverbs: Jesus, like Wisdom, calls out to people to listen to him, promises to tell the truth, seeks disciples, invites them to a banquet, and gives them life.  The truth and sincerity of wisdom are absolute because they are of divine origin. (NABRE footnotes)

I love when Jesus says, “I tell you the truth…”  My One Word for 2014 is TRUTH and I find that I crave it!  The reflection question for today is, “If ‘Christ’ could be substituted for ‘Wisdom’ in this chapter, how would that affect your view or application of its main points?”  My answer to that is that Christ was the game changer of Christian laws; so when in doubt, I follow Christ’s instructions before Old Testament teachings.

I feel a sense of urgency in these introduction passages to seek wisdom and truth.  I have a stirring in my soul that there is way more than I have even begun thinking about; and I am trying to keep it simple and take it in manageable parts.
